Our Venue in the News!

Our venue (Brookwood Community) was featured on FOX 26 News after Glee on Super Bowl Sunday. I was so excited I couldn't help but share this with the world. I have tried to explain our venue and what it is really all about, but I can never seem to get across just how amazing it is. It has a beautiful message to the public and is a wonderful cause.

If you are having a wedding around Houston, please think about having it here. A portion of your cost goes towards this community and its citizens. It's a great way to expand this community and help more individuals who may not be able to help themselves!

I get a lot of questions about where everything is held here. They have a beautiful church where the ceremony will be held. The reception will be in the Cafe, which has been recently renovated to hold more people and/or parties. To top it off they have a 4 star chef and some really awesome landscaping outside in the back with fountains and flowers galore!

Are you really still reading this?? Goodness gracious, look at the link already!!!

Wedding Website

What could be better than a website devoted to us? Well a wedding of course but when it comes to the internet, its pretty awesome. Not everyone may actually look at it, let alone read it but it's still pretty sweet to have! It has everything our family or friends may have questions about. What do I mean? I have everything from an About Us link to our Registry, a Guestbook to add comments to and even a link that goes straight to a hotel block we have. There was even more stuff we could have put on there but I didn't want it to be too complicated. After all we have to cater to all of our friends and family... including the ones so old that too much technology could give them an anxiety attack.

I just wanted to share this because I really loved making ours. Plus if people get all chatty and email me 1,986 wedding questions, I send them the link. If I don't, I end up writing an email just short of a novel.

For those planning a wedding, I really suggest doing this. It's especially helpful for out of town friends! Here's the link to ours. Check it out...now.

Invitations = Hell?

Why is it that getting invitations printed costs up to $600 for only 100 invitations without a response card? Is the ink made with holy water? Is the paper made from a real money tree? Or maybe it's the envelope made of steel? All I know it I care more about things happening AT the wedding than the invitations telling people about the wedding. I even thought going to Davids Bridal for invitations would help. Nope, its cheaper but still too much for a piece of paper with the date, time and place listed on it.

The greatest thing ever is found at Michael's craft store! They have a line of DIY invitations from BRIDES Magazine. I found mine there and I absolutely love them. They only took me a few days to put together and they look great! I saved at least $700 doing it this way. You get so much more for your money, you just have to have the patience to put it all together yourself. So whether your planning it now or later, get your lazy butt up and get crafty! It's oober fun and cheap!

For the Love of Cake

Every wedding cannot be complete without an ultra adorable and classy cake, right? It's tasty, and probably the most beautiful piece of edible art you've seen since the last wedding. Well considering its just cake, I figured it would be somewhat inexpensive compared to the rest of the wedding expenses.....SIKE!

I went to the Bridal Extravaganza last year and tried a wonderfully mouthwatering amaretto flavored cake with rasberry filling. A few months ago I called to ask about a price, she tells me in her sweet Italian accent "$5 per slice." After realizing that depending on the amount of guests) it would cost between $750 and $1,000, I nearly fainted and tried hard to resist laughing at her and hanging up. Oh wait, I actually did that. Woopsie daisy!

I then just started telling friends and family about cake and how its nearly the price of a solid gold brick and suddenly it happened! I got a phone number to a girl who does cakes from her home. She's a stay at home mom who has a Facebook page showcasing her work. She's done other weddings and doesn't cost near as much as a bakery. It's still a pretty penny but remember...it's edible art designed by me :) So when you see it, enjoy it and (if you have to lie) tell me its the most beautiful cake you've ever seen.

If you ever need her number/email, let me know! She's as sweet as can be and can make about anything you ask for!

4 Months!

I can't believe that another month has gone by. It feels like last week we were playing MarioKart every hour of the day for the entire summer before senior year. I am so blessed to have such a beautiful person in my life. He makes me who I am. He is my whole life. I can't wait to finally join our families together and to one day make that family grow. I am the luckiest girl in the world!

Bridesmaids

I LOVE everything bridesmaids!

It's so fun to be able to share every wedding secret with your best friends. I know my bridesmaids have heard enough of my wedding stress from weight loss to colors of their shoes to colors of my shoes. They are the absolute best. I am so thankful to have such beautiful women in my life. They make me who I am. Some are old friends, some sisters, some more recent. No matter the timing of our introduction, all are sisters to me. They are always there for me and I am so thrilled to have them there at the alter next to me :)

Just wanted to share this with my special girls. You will always have a most special place in my heart. I am so lucky to have 7 of you! Love you all so much.

PS. Did I mention I chose the pink one?
